The Michigan Instruction Exchange (MIX) invites you and your colleagues to submit breakout session proposals for the August 8 conference hosted by Grand Valley State University Libraries to be held at GVSU's new Mary Idema Pew Library in Allendale, MI. Sessions (45 minute programs, which includes a 15-minute Q & A) should relate to information literacy instruction in one of the following disciplines:
Business/Law
Health Sciences
Humanities
Social Sciences
STEM
The MIX conference is a one-day, casual gathering of instructional ideas and perspectives. Morning and afternoon concurrent sessions will cover topics of information literacy instruction as they relate to five major academic disciplines. Proposals will be selected on the basis of discipline alignment, innovation, and relevance to information literacy instruction. Possible subjects could include (but are not limited to):
Active learning
Threshold concepts
Unique or innovative lesson plans
Classroom collaborations with faculty or beyond
Connecting with discipline faculty to promote or develop IL instruction
For consideration, please submit your name, institution, contact info, position, title of presentation, and abstract (150 word maximum) to mix14 at gvsu.edu by April 30, 2014. Presenters will be notified of proposal acceptance by May 15, 2014.
