Michigan State University Libraries’ Preservation Department maintains a list of Local Book Repair Services” which lists people and companies mostly in south east Michigan http://www.lib.msu.edu/preservation/local.jsp

Thanks for the update about the Bentley no longer doing private commissions. (I’ll remind the good folks at MSU Preservation to update their list.)

Cathy,

I recently was in the same situation as you. I first took our bible to the conservation lab at the Bentley Historical Library at U of M, but they can no longer do private commissions, so they referred me to the Bessenberg Bindery in Dexter. They specialize in restoring old books including bible repair. I’ve seen some of their work and it is excellent! Here’s their website:

Good luck!

Asking for advice.

I have an old family bible.

It is a very hard leather bible that locks.

The cover is now off and I would like to have it rebound.

Can anyone recommend a company that does this.

I live in Waterford, work in South Lyon.

Thanks for any advice.

Cathy
