Hello all,

When it comes to finding biographical resources, it's hard to beat the MeL database Biography and Genealogy Master Index<http://www.galesupport.com/migeoipcheck/migeoipcheck-gale.php?database=BGMI>. This index only resource contains entries found in over 1,000 volumes of biographical references - both current and retrospective - for nearly 5 million people! A basic search can be done by name only while an advanced search allows limiters of birth and death years or ranges and title/prefix/suffix, even, if a portrait is available. Sources indexed include publications from Facts on File, Oxford University Press, Marquis Who's Who (many series), National Geographic Society, Ward's, Congressional Directory, and Contemporary Series by Gale, (Authors, Literary Criticism, etc.). Looking for that hard to find individual and what their claim to fame is? Biography and Genealogy Master Index<http://www.galesupport.com/migeoipcheck/migeoipcheck-gale.php?database=BGMI> may be the key to unlocking their secrets. Michigan residents or Michigan library access only.

MeL Minutes are brought to you by the Library of Michigan. Want more information on MeL?
