We treat all group home residents as individuals, unless the home itself decides to have a card.  Many times the caregivers will limit the checkouts for the resident, but we do not treat them any differently than any other patron.  It has worked well for us, and it seems to make both the caregivers and the residents happy.

Dear Colleagues, 

I wonder if you have any policies that limit patrons living in group homes that differ in any way you treat general patrons. We have a group home who's residents come together to our library frequently to check out DVDs. We have a policy that limits 5 DVDs per Family. It's been suggested that we limit group home residents and treat them like a "family" because they share a household. I believe that they should be viewed as individuals and treated individually. Has any of this come up in your day to day considerations.
