The Mason County District Library is looking for an outgoing and creative
individual for the position of Library Assistant. This person will bring
enthusiasm and sound educational practice to the children’s programming at
the Scottville Branch of MCDL. They will be involved in all levels of
programming, from the planning and implementation right down to leading
story time. The ideal candidate will build on the strong foundation for
children’s services at the Scottville branch of MCDL and will have the
flexibility and support to grow the programs and services. This position
will be primarily based in the Scottville branch though some hours will be
in Ludington.
Duties may include:
· Basic duties of Circulation Clerks, including customer service,
shelving, circulation, shelf reading
· Opening, closing the library as situation requires
· Reference desk librarian – answer questions, facilitate research,
teach library skills to patrons
· Story Time, Family craft night, Summer Reading Program and
additional programming
· Develop J programming for both branches
· Collection development for Scottville’s children section
· Cataloging & processing new items
This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of duties—other duties as
director or assistant director assigns.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree
· Some evenings, weekends, and holiday hours required
*Qualifications:*
· Excellent customer service skills
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office, web browsers, and willingness
to learn other library-based computer software
· Background in teaching, pedagogy, youth services, childcare or
skills pertaining to children's services.
*Compensation:*
This part time position will pay between $13.50 and $14.36 per hour for 30
hours per week. This position is eligible paid leave.
