Hello all,

Anyone living or working with teens (aka teenagers, adolescents, young adults) probably knows that life happens to them in dramatic and fast changing ways! Their topics of concern can include self-image, drugs, smoking, the opposite sex, health, bullying, employment, and many others. They want answers but may be embarrassed to ask directly for what they really need/are interested in. With that in mind, we have compiled some resources in the MeL Teens Gateway Life Happens<http://teens.mel.org/MeLLifeHappens> section under three categories - Health<http://teens.mel.org/index.php?P=MeLLifeHappens&ParentId=998>, Social Issues<http://teens.mel.org/index.php?P=MeLLifeHappens&ParentId=999> and Vocations/Jobs<http://teens.mel.org/index.php?P=MeLLifeHappens&ParentId=1000> that you can refer them to. Websites and databases are listed to help address their concerns and answer questions. The Vocations/Jobs section includes links to the MeL Databases LearningExpress Library Career Center<http://galesupport.com/migeoipcheck/migeoipcheck-lxpress3.php?database=CA>, High School Equivalency Center<http://galesupport.com/migeoipcheck/migeoipcheck-lxpress3.php?database=HSEC> and Job & Career Accelerator<http://galesupport.com/migeoipcheck/migeoipcheck-lxpress3.php?database=JCA>. Just remember, we were all teens once ourselves! Michigan residents or Michigan library access only for database resources.

MeL Minutes are brought to you by the Library of Michigan. Want more information on MeL? Stay tuned for next week's MeL Minute available on many Michigan library listservs, email us at contact at mel.org<mailto:contact at mel.org> or visit mel.org<http://mel.org/>.
