[Michlib-l] Renewal Question

Dear Colleagues,
Our non-new books have a 3 week lending period with the circulation rule to renew two times (total of 9 weeks). There is an occasional patron who would like further time to finish the book.

My questions to you:

1.Do you allow the patron the return the item in the library after the final renewal and then let them have it again, assuming there are no holds?

2.Do you make the patron return the item to the dropbox so he/she must wait 24 hours to check it out again?

3. Do you use any combination of these actions?

We are a small library that would like to make sure that all of our patrons get a chance to check out our collection, but at the same time, we don't want to discourage patrons from finishing books they have started, especially if the item isn't in high demand.

Thanks for your consideration!
Jaema Berman
