*DIRECTOR MENOMINEE COUNTY (MI) LIBRARY*

The Board of Trustees of the Menominee County (MI) Library is seeking a 
qualified, innovative, hands-on leader to manage and enhance this Class 
IV public library located in Stephenson, Michigan.The Menominee County 
Library includes the main library in Stephenson, a branch in 
Hermansville, and a bookmobile that provides materials to schools and 
community stops throughout the county.

The library is located in the southern part of the scenic Upper 
Peninsula of Michigan, just twenty miles north of the city of Menominee, 
“where the best of Michigan begins.”Opportunities for outdoor activities 
abound year-round and the “UP” offers easy access to thousands of acres 
of unspoiled forests, numerous natural waterfalls, and miles and miles 
of glorious shoreline!

With a friendly, experienced and dedicated staff of four, a budget of 
$350,000, and active Friends of the Library volunteers, the library 
system provides superior, personalized service to a population of over 
14,000.

*The successful candidate *will be a customer-oriented individual who 
enjoys the small-town Upper Peninsula way of life and who appreciates 
the daily opportunity to interact with the public as a hands-on 
director. Proven personnel management skills, a comprehensive 
understanding of library finances and budgeting and excellent overall 
financial management ability, coupled with a flexible and energetic 
approach is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to 
comfortably represent the library in the community are key. In addition, 
comprehensive knowledge regarding current technology and its use in 
public libraries and a thorough understanding of current public library 
operations and services is essential.

*The Position requires *a Master’s degree in library science or library 
and information science degree from a program accredited by the American 
Library Association.*In addition*, the position *requires* a minimum of

two*//*years management and supervisory experience, preferably in a
