Summer Programming Intern
Assist library staff with the Summer Reading Program by registering patrons for the reading program; tracking/handing out prizes; assisting with programs; and using early literacy theories in planning and implementing storytimes.  The intern will go through training on early literacy skills.

Ability and willingness to interact in a friendly, positive manner with children and adults. Experience in working with children. Strong organizational skills. Ability and willingness to speak in front of groups of children and caregivers.  Strong interpersonal communication skills. A genuine interest in children and their recreational and educational needs.  Must be able to handle working in an environment that may be hectic and noisy.

Wage: $9.00/hr for 20 hrs/week based on programming schedule needs.  May require some evenings and weekends.  Starts May 11 through Aug 8.  Undergraduate coursework in elementary education, child development, children's literature, or recreation required.  Bachelor's degree with graduate library science coursework preferred.
