Position
Teen Services Department Head (This is a management-level position)
Education & Experience
Required: Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited college or university. 5 years progressively more responsible professional library experience in a service-oriented setting, with at least 3 years at a mid-level management or supervisory capacity. Proven successful knowledge of library practices, including experience with collection development, departmental scheduling, and tracking departmental budgets.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education or any related subject field with prior public library experience in young adult / teen services is desired, but is not a required requisite to qualify for this position.
Proven knowledge of Symphony WorkFlows (library automation software), Evanced (online event scheduling software), BookLetters (online newsletters); EnvisionWare and WebSense (public pc management and filtering software) is advantageous, but not required.
Nature of the Work
The Oxford Public Library seeks an energetic, creative and public service-oriented professional to lead its Teen Services Department. As a member of the Library's Management Team, this individual reports to the Library Director and is charged with the responsibility to plan, direct, or coordinate departmental operational activities, curriculum, and programs with the help of subordinate staff. This individual is charged with the responsibility to oversee and track departmental expenditures and statistical data. The primary function of this position is to train and supervise department staff, maintain financial records, facilitate collection development, and assist the Library Director in providing for the efficient operation of the department.
About the Library
The Oxford Public Library serves a charming, historical community of 20,000 + residents in northern Oakland County. The library facility itself is approximately 24,000 sq ft and houses a collection-size consistently around 90,000. In 2014 the library circulated over 226,000 items, and hosted over 500 community-based programs that were attended by over 18,000 participants.
Salary
Salaried/Overtime Exemption, Minimum 40 hours per week.
Salary Range: $ 42,000 - $ 52,000 annually, based on experience. Respectable benefits package included.
