[Michlib-l] MeL Minute - new browse feature in Academic OneFile

Hi all,

Effective today, Gale Cengage<http://www.cengage.com/search/showresults.do?N=197> has rolled out a new browsing feature in the MeL Database Academic OneFile<http://www.galesupport.com/migeoipcheck/migeoipcheck-gale.php?database=AONE> called Browse by Discipline.  Six disciplines - Criminal Justice, Economics, History, Marketing, Political Science, and Psychology now appear front and center and once selected, can be refined by categories to provide search results which include academic journals, magazines, books, news items, videos, and audio.

Gale describes the new feature as, "...does the searching for you, making it ideal for the user who struggles with effective Advanced Search strategies and overwhelming results. Content is tailored to specific topics.  Smaller and more targeted results will empower users to quickly find relevant content. Publications are hand-selected by subject-matter experts to ensure content is focused on the selected subject area." All the familiar searches-like Basic, Advanced, Subject, and Publication-are still available options as are the usual InfoTrac database tools. Michigan residents or Michigan library access only.
