Michigan's 21st Century Infrastructure Commission will have a listening event in Marquette on Friday (details below). This is the only event scheduled in the UP. This is a good opportunity for librarians to have a voice in communications, transportation, water, and energy infrastructure.
Added bonus: classes don't start until August 22, so parking will be available.

21st Century Infrastructure Commission members are interested in hearing from Michiganders about how we can work together to improve our state's infrastructure. To gather input, the Commission has organized three listening tour stops - one in west Michigan, one in northern Michigan, and one in southeast Michigan. These stops are designed to gather direct input from Michigan's residents on the current state of Michigan's infrastructure, the infrastructure system citizens envision, and how we can work together to close the gap between the two. This input will help shape the Commission's final report and set of recommendations, which will be released on November 30, 2016.
Attendees should be prepared to discuss their vision for our future infrastructure systems and expectations for Michigan's infrastructure across all sectors: transportation, water, communications, and energy.
Note: Registration will be capped at 150 attendees
Persons with disabilities needing accommodations for effective participation in this meeting should contact Laura Stoken at 517-241-5415 or via email at miinfrastructurecommission at michigan.gov<mailto:miinfrastructurecommission at michigan.gov> by August 15th in order to request mobility, visual, hearing or other assistance. Requests received after that date cannot be guaranteed, but efforts will be made to provide the accommodation requested.
