On behalf of the Conference Program Committee, we would like to invite you to submit a proposal<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Uieokx6gN2OJ35iyLmaYHec9EIzgQ1DqjlFDVvmu0JA/viewform> for “Reading Redefined: Deep Reading, Learning, and the Impact of Digitization”. The event will be held in Lansing, Michigan at the Lansing Community College West Campus on September 30, 2016.
This program is an opportunity for librarians, educators, and others interested in understanding the ways that reading is changing to gather, debate, and learn.
We invite program proposals from February 1, 2016 to March 31, 2016.
Program proposal submissions should be 30 minutes in length including time for questions. Proposals might focus on any of the following areas:
● Promise and threat of technology or increasing digitization for our youth
● Role of technology in dissemination of knowledge for libraries
● What are deep reading skills and how can libraries facilitate deep reading
● What is the role of the public or academic library in our digital culture
● The ways that technology is changing the mission and role of libraries
● Bi-literate children balancing deep reading and technology
● Online reading/skimming (DH)
● What does reading on different devices mean to education
● The impact of digital humanities on learning
● How do librarians balance print and electronic book acquisitions

Program proposals will be reviewed by the program committee, and those presenters who are selected will be notified by mid-May 2016.
This event is co-sponsored by a collaborative of Michigan library service agencies.
