The Eastern Michigan University Library invites applications for a tenure-track position of STEM Librarian. This position is an 8-month academic year appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor and will start in Fall 2016; an additional summer appointment is possible. Nights and weekends may be required.
The STEM Librarian will participate in the team-based environment of the University Library and serve as a teacher, department liaison and collection coordinator for STEM fields— including the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Physics & Astronomy, Mathematics, Geology, Environmental Science, and Engineering Technology. She/he will provide students and faculty of these departments with research instruction and class support. As the subject specialist and collection coordinator to these departments, she/he will develop teaching and research tools, provide expertise in the area of scholarly communication, and proactively reach out to the faculty and students in both on-campus and off-campus programs. She/he will liaise with department faculty regarding electronic and print collection management, including purchasing journal subscriptions and packages, book requests, material cancellations, and trial databases in consultation with the Collection Development Team.
The STEM Librarian must meet departmental and university tenure and promotion standards for fulfillment of professional responsibilities, scholarship, and service.
