[Michlib-l] MeL Minute - Responsive Design and more

Hello everyone,

Until recently, I had never heard the term "responsive design" in any context let alone regarding databases and websites.  I've come to find out it "... is an approach to web design aimed at crafting sites to provide an optimal viewing and interaction experience ... across a wide range of devices" (per Wikipedia<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Responsive_web_design>).  Why mention this?  Because, more and more of the MeL Databases<http://mel.org/Databases> are now rendered in responsive design which means users can view them on a desktop computer, tablet, mobile device, or smartphone with equal ease and functionality.  In December, 2015, MeL Database Kids InfoBits<http://www.galesupport.com/migeoipcheck/migeoipcheck-gale.php?database=ITKE> was updated to a responsive design. Just this week, Chilton Library<http://galesupport.com/chilton_branding/splashPage.php?loc=lom_accessmich> (vehicle repair) has been optimized making it "... accessible at home, in the field, or out in the garage."  We'll keep you informed of other responsive design upgrades as they are announced. Michigan residents or Michigan library access only.
