Julie,
It has been our experience that there are many organizations nationwide
utilizing QuickBooks. The product is especially useful for libraries,
non-profit organizations, small business and governmental agencies.
MMLC has used QuickBooks Pro for over 20 years. In October, 2015, I
completed an extensive QuickBooks certification training. The class had over
30 participants from the mid-Michigan area who are just starting to utilize
this product. Our auditor, and the auditors of many of our members,
routinely recommend QuickBooks Pro for its versatility and ease of use. Many
of our public library members utilize this software for book-keeping and
payroll, and agree that this software meets all their bookkeeping needs.
Last year, we had an independent auditor contact the MMLC office to obtain
permission to share our QuickBooks manual with their non-profit clients. You

We have however found that you need to use the full QuickBooks Pro version,
not the Cloud version. The Cloud version does not lend itself well to full
payroll and bookkeeping functionality.

Subject: [Michlib-l] Employee Time Clocks
Hello,
Although we have a small staff, we are in the market for a time clock. I
would like a networked unit that we can download employee hours for my
bookkeeper to use for payroll. I've seen some that interface with
QuickBooks, but reviews say reports and exports can be unreliable. Also,
some of the cheaper models lose their data during a power loss, so we want a
battery backup option. What do you use at your library? How well does
it work? I need recommendations!
Also, if you do payroll and bookkeeping in-house, what software do you use?
Just wondering, as our auditor said not very many organizations use
QuickBooks anymore.
