We know that libraries of all sizes do incredible work in their communities, but right now we have a special message just for small libraries (that is libraries serving communities with 25,000 or fewer people): Are you always thinking about new ways to engage your community with your library's services? A big-picture thinker who can also manage minute details and get people excited about long-term projects? Looking for an opportunity to reinvigorate your library space to support active learning in your community? If this describes you, then check out this awesome opportunity from WebJunction and our partners at the Association for Rural and Small Libraries to submit an application to the Small Libraries Create Smart Spaces project.

Small Libraries Create Smart Spaces

We know that libraries of all sizes do incredible work in their communities, but right now we have a special message just for small libraries (that is libraries serving communities with 25,000 or fewer people):

Are you always thinking about new ways to engage your community with your library's services? A big-picture thinker who can also manage minute details and get people excited about long-term projects? Looking for an opportunity to reinvigorate your library space to support active learning in your community?

If this describes you, then check out this awesome opportunity from WebJunction and our partners at the Association for Rural and Small Libraries<http://click.e.oclc.org/?qs=fe26ce532a25431084ba9cf1659b6ea5d4f9788f14015cc7732d0ad84c74caf0> to submit an application to the Small Libraries Create Smart Spaces<http://click.e.oclc.org/?qs=fe26ce532a2543103b1780a523892f4960ed8097548a4a898c57b6be820df8b5> project.

Fifteen small public libraries will be selected to receive instructional and material support to engage their communities in a space transformation process that supports active learning at the library. In addition to fostering local change and impact, these libraries and their experiences will influence knowledge and resources that will be shared with the public library field at large, demonstrating the amazing leadership that exists within small libraries and their communities.

Applications are being accepted through 5:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time on Friday, October 21, 2016. Managing Library Technology: Keeping All the Balls in the Air<http://click.e.oclc.org/?qs=fe26ce532a254310beca6f095d1dce2f5630ec50f9ea1a722cb14ab99bc709c3>

Managing library technology isn't just about the technology. It involves fine juggling skills to manage people, workflows, procedures, policies and more - all while prioritizing, delegating and tracking. Just preparing staff effectively for upgrades or changes to technology takes finesse. How does one person do it all? Strong project and time management skills are key. Regardless of your job title, and whether working with a small team or a library-wide technology committee, anyone can learn smart practices to keep everything, and everyone, in motion and on target. Presented by: John Klima, Assistant Director, Waukesha Public Library (WI), author, editor, and LITA Blogger.
