[Michlib-l] special election

Hi all-- 

The library board has chosen a site for a new building and we will be purchasing the vacant lot from the city soon. Momentum is high as the local paper is giving our building project front page coverage. We need a bond vote to fund the building. Alas, Lapeer County has no general elections in 2017. Some of us hate the thought of waiting almost two years for a vote. We cover twelve townships and a city so a special election would not be cheap. 

Has any of you ever held a special election for a bond vote to fund a new building? Was there negative feedback? Did the vote go in your favor?
