[Michlib-l] MeL Minute: Health Portal Highlights

Hello Everyone!

As part of MeL.org's commitment to provide resources that address educational and personal interest topics for Michigan citizens, several of the sites contained in the Health Portal<http://mel.org/index.php?P=MeLGateways&ParentId=111> are worth highlighting. Health and Wellness Resource Center<http://www.galesupport.com/migeoipcheck/migeoipcheck-gale.php?database=HWRC>, Health Reference Center Academic<http://www.galesupport.com/migeoipcheck/migeoipcheck-gale.php?database=HRCA>, and Nursing Resource Center<http://www.galesupport.com/migeoipcheck/migeoipcheck-gale.php?database=NRC> are three eResources from Gale Cengage that provide information useful for patients as well as health professionals.  From animated anatomy and physiology diagrams to information on drug and herbal remedies to health assessment tools, these eResources can answer questions and educate.  Information is for informational purposes only.  Michigan residents or Michigan library access only.
Valuable web resources are listed in the classifications found on the left side of the portal.

*         Under Providers, you'll find Lab Test Online<http://labtestsonline.org/index.html> produced by AACC( American Association of Clinical Chemists) and ClinicalTrials.gov<https://clinicaltrials.gov/> a service of the U.S. National Institutes of Health

*         Under Spanish & World Languages, four resources are listed including HealthReach<https://healthreach.nlm.nih.gov/>, Health Information in Many Languages and Fight Bac!<http://www.fightbac.org/free-resources/spanish-resources/> Partnership for Food Safety Education Spanish Resources.

*         Under Statistics & Reports, find a Consumer Version of Merck Manual<http://www.merckmanuals.com/home> and PubMed<https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/> a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine for finding citations for biomedical literature.
