Dear Library Vision Community,

Many of us are aware of the transformative power of public libraries. Yet some public libraries remain disconnected from the communities they seek to serve. How can we bridge this gap?

On July 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. (EST) The Aspen Institute Dialogue on Public Libraries joins forces with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) to bring you "Public Library Innovations: A Story of Community Engagement<http://www.libraryvision.org/r?u=https%3A%2F%2Ficma.org%2Fnode%2F92703&e=8a883066a4b69500c2522151eeb586e1&utm_source=aspendpl&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=webinar_2&n=1>." The webinar will be a great resource for library leaders and city/county mangers interested in designing more effective strategies for aligning library services with priorities of their community.

Through a case study approach, this webinar will present practical and actionable ideas in transforming your public library and community. Guest speakers will include:

Amy Garmer, Director, Aspen Institute Dialogue on Public Libraries
Jaime Laughter, County Manager, Transylvania County, North Carolina
Anna Yount, Library Director, Transylvania County Library

By the end of the webinar, participants will:

  * Be familiar with the tools and processes of the Aspen Institute Action Guide, including the three pathways (Learning, Leading, Implementing) and activities focused on a strengths-based approach to community development.

  * Learn techniques and models for engaging a broad cross section of community stakeholders to help define a vision for the library that aligns with the vision for the community, and to shape the activities that will help you get there.

  * Understand how to synthesize information and data from many sources into a well-organized plan with clear, measurable goals for the library and community.

  * Be able to identify contacts and resources for further information.

I encourage you to register for the webinar with your city/county manager and share the announcement with your network!
