Summary:
Grand Valley State University (GVSU) Libraries seeks highly motivated and collegial applicants for a librarian position. This position is a non-tenure track position at the rank of Administrative Professional (AP), a professional, non-faculty classification. This individual will report to GVSU Libraries Head of Professional Programs and will work as a solo, contract librarian with the Van Andel Research Institute (VARI) Library located at 333 Bostwick Ave., NE, Grand Rapids, Ml. ·

Responsibilities – Essential Functions
The Library Manager oversees the VARI library budget; collaborates with VARI IT to administer EZProxy; manages and negotiates licenses and subscriptions for online and print collections; maintains the VARI library's SharePoint page; facilitates interlibrary loans; leads library orientations for faculty, staff, interns, and graduate students; provides library instruction; designs instruction guides for library resources; conducts literature searches and citation analysis metrics searches; chairs the VARI Library Advisory Committee; collaborates with other VAI departments and GVSU Libraries faculty and staff as needed; participates in GVSU Libraries planning and assessment activities; attends GVSU Libraries unit and all-staff meetings; writes and provides annual reports to GVSU Libraries leadership.

Required Qualifications and Education:

  *   Master's degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association (ALA), or from a program in a country with a formal accreditation process as identified by ALA
  *   Familiar with research trends in health or biomedical libraries
  *   Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  *   Demonstration of exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  *   A strong commitment to public service
  *   Knowledge of MS office products

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  *   Experience as a solo librarian
  *   Experience working in biomedical or health-related libraries
  *   Experience with collection development
  *   Experience with interlibrary loan practices
  *   Experience using MS SharePoint
  *   Familiarity using science and health related research databases, such as Web of Science, or PubMed
  *   Ability to learn and use new library and information technologies

Salary: Commensurate with experience
