Hello All!
The Library of Michigan is fortunate to be working with a K12 Education Specialist who then works directly with school librarians, teachers and administrators in PreK-12 public and private schools around the state. She is doing amazing work helping educators to realize how important MeL’s quality, vetted digital resources can be to preparing students for college and career.
In support of parents who are their children’s first teachers and who maintain an active role in their children’s formal education, our K12 Specialist has added a Parent Resources<http://teachers.mel.org/parent-resources> section to the MeL Teachers<http://teachers.mel.org> portal. In this section, parents can find an explanation of what “subscription databases” actually are, and how to use them, a link to the MeL Parent Page with selected quality, free websites that provide support, and direct links and information on how MeL’s College Bound center as well as MeL Teens and MeL Kids portals can be successfully used by parents with their children.
Parents, especially Homeschool parents would want to also check out the Training Toolkit<http://teachers.mel.org/training-toolkit> in MeL Teachers. On it they can learn more about MeL resources, access MeL training and get an overview of training materials. There are links to workbooks, infosheeets, slide decks and resource specific videos.
