Lead the High Plains Library District<http://www.mylibrary.us/> (CO) as it propels its services and programs into the future! HPLD embraces its history, while focusing on its future. The High Plains Library District Board of Trustees seeks an Executive Director who will work with both its founding member libraries and system branch libraries to unite the District and continue its work serving the 265,000+ residents of Weld County and neighboring areas over its 4,000 square mile service district. With a $34 million annual budget, 151 FTE, six member libraries, seven branches, bookmobiles, and service center, the District circulated 2.6 million items to 119,310 card holders in 2016. Key areas of focus include Community, Customers, and Facilities. Upcoming priorities are strategic planning, continuing the emphasis on community collaborations and engagement, and the renovation and expansion of current facilities. The successful candidate will be able to move easily among and work well collaborating with multiple constituencies including branch libraries, member library directors and their governing Boards, the HPLD Board of Trustees, community stakeholders, and a committed and dedicated staff.

Responsibilities. The Library Director, under direction of the Library Board, performs executive and administrative work directing all operations and activities of the High Plains Library District. The Executive Director plans, organizes, directs, evaluates, and reviews the District's resources, services, and programs to respond to the needs of the community. Work includes planning and implementing the District's short and long-range goals, developing and monitoring budget resources, oversight of staff and services, and partnering with the Board to make frequent contact with member boards and local and state leaders regarding library services, funding and collaborative efforts.  Key areas of responsibility are: planning, leadership, finance, board relations, personnel, and communication.


Qualifications. Minimum qualifications include a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program and five years of library management experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the critical factors for success as outlined in the position description<http://www.bradburymiller.com/hpldjobdesc.pdf>. Additional qualifications are: (1) knowledge of library operations, administration, budgeting, personnel, planning and fundraising; (2) knowledge of current library trends and technologies; (3) strong oral and written communication skills; (4) proven success as a leader; (5) the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with community leaders, public officials and the general public; (6) project management skills; and (7) a commitment to professional library philosophy and values. Prior experience reporting to a governing board and working in a multi-library environment are desirable.
Compensation. The starting salary range is $121,874 - 143,382 (dependent on qualifications and experience) with a competitive benefits package.
