Assistant-Associate Librarian-Research and Instructional Services (Adjunct Faculty, Winter Semester 2018)
University Libraries at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is accepting applications for an adjunct librarian for Winter Semester 2018 in the Research and Instructional (R&I) Division. The librarian will serve as a liaison to the Seidman College of Business during the interim appointment. Responsibilities include supporting student learning and faculty teaching through instruction on the use of print and electronic resources; research assistance through reference consultations via person-to-person, email, and telephone interactions; collection development activities, and weekly office hours held at Seidman College of Business. In addition, the librarian assists with library instruction for WRT 150: Strategies in Writing.
The successful candidate will work 28 hours/week starting January 8, 2017, primarily weekdays with occasional adjustment of hours for evening and/or weekend classes. This position is located on the Grand Rapids Campus of GVSU with occasional travel to the campus in Allendale for meetings and instruction. There are no expectations of scholarship or service for this adjunct librarian however, opportunities may be pursued if time permits.
Required qualifications are
· MLIS from an ALA accredited program
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
· Knowledge of current academic library environments and trends
· Computer/technology skills appropriate for face-to-face and online instruction
Preferred qualifications
· Reference and instruction experience at a collegiate level
· Education, background, or experience in working with students and faculty from the following areas: business, management, marketing, and/or economics
