User Services Librarian
Western Michigan University Libraries

The University Libraries at Western Michigan University seeks candidates for the new position of User Services Librarian. This is a department lead for the User Services Department, which values positive, inclusive, and creative approaches to providing excellent user-centered services and programs for the WMU community.

The User Services Librarian reports to the Associate Dean for Education and User Services and provides leadership for overall user experience, including circulation, reserves, interlibrary loan, computer support, and reference services. This position requires a wide range of professional responsibilities and activities, such as developing a philosophy and standards for service, engaging in assessment activities to measure and benchmark service effectiveness and quality, developing policies and procedures, and promoting library services to the campus community.

This position is responsible for leading service operations and staffing at WMU Libraries service desks during hours of operation, including nights and weekends. The position ensures efficient daily operations, quality outcomes, and user satisfaction. Requires participation in departmental planning, attendance at department and library-wide meetings, committee membership, and other duties as assigned. The User Services Librarian is a fiscal year, tenure-track faculty position.

A master's degree from a graduate program accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) and relevant professional experience are required.
