If you have been interested in attending a RIPL conference here is an opportunity to apply for a scholarship. These scholarships are for staff from libraries working in small and rural libraries in the US. Please read below for additional details and links to the application.

The Research Institute for Public Libraries (RIPL) is a singular event for public library leaders and others interested in public library data and evaluation. In this immersive, bootcamp-style event, participants learn practical, strategic methods of gathering, analyzing, and using data for planning, management, and communicating impact.

Are you interested in learning how to use data for decision-making, strategic planning, and demonstrating the impact of your library? If so, we hope you will consider attending next summer’s Research Institute for Public Libraries<http://ripl.lrs.org/> (RIPL), July 29 – August 1, 2018 at the Emory Conference Center Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. Registration will open Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at 1:00 PM Eastern/10:00 AM Pacific (please note that this is a change from the date of January 15 announced in a previous message to accommodate the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday). The institute fee is $1,200, which includes registration, three nights lodging, and most meals.
And, we’re excited to announce that up to 20 scholarships are available to staff working in rural and small public libraries in the United States. These scholarships are funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
To be eligible for a scholarship, you must be employed by a U.S. public library that is located in a rural area AND serves a population of less than 25,000. To determine whether your library meets these criteria, please see this webpage<https://www.lrs.org/rural-and-small-public-libraries/>. In addition, you must be a first-time participant of RIPL<https://ripl.lrs.org/> – if you have already attended a national or regional RIPL event, you are not eligible for a scholarship.
For more information and to apply, please see https://www.lrs.org/ripl-scholarship-opportunity-for-small-and-rural-library-staff/. Scholarship applications are due by 8 PM Eastern/5 PM Pacific on Friday, October 27, 2017.
Thank you for your interest in RIPL!
