The Archives of Michigan, part of the Michigan History Center, in the Department of Natural Resources, has a job posting out for an archivist. See below for full details. Closing date for applications is October 15, 2017.

Description

This position contributes to the daily operation of the Archives Section and will be the local government records liaison for county, township and municipal government agencies. The position can expect to work on a wide array of projects, but will focus on local government paper and electronic records preservation with the Preservica system and processing archival records.  This position will be key to building relationships with local government agencies in the preservation of paper and electronic records with historical value. The position will also work in reference and processing records.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a master's degree in history, art history, museum studies, anthropology, American Studies, architectural history, historic preservation, or archival management.

Preferred: M.I.S. or M.L.I.S. in information science with a concentration in archives and records management.

Experience
Historian 9
No specific type or amount is required.

Historian 10
One year of professional experience involving the study, preservation, analysis, interpretation, and preservation of history, historical artifacts, records, and sites equivalent to an Historian 9.

Historian P11
Two years of professional experience involving the study, preservation, analysis, interpretation, and preservation of history, historical artifacts, records, and sites equivalent to an Historian, including one year equivalent to an Historian 10; or, three years of professional experience recording, preserving, and presenting Michigan history, historical artifacts, records, and sites at a museum, historical site, archives, publication office, or historical site preservation office equivalent to a History Specialist 10.

Preferred:  Experience in an archival and/or library setting.
