Greetings Michigan Library Community,
New resources coming to MeL.org this fall!
AutoMate

[cid:image002.png at 01D44069.247E2EA0]Powered by the automotive experts at MOTOR, AutoMate provides the most accurate, authoritative and up-to-date service and repair information for thousands of domestic and imported vehicles. All content comes from the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and includes step-by-step repair information, diagrams, maintenance schedules, parts and labor estimates, service bulletins and recalls. Over 37,000 makes and models from 1945 to present available.

  *   Change your oil.
  *   Replace your battery.
  *   Install a new stereo.
  *   Fix a flat tire.

Designed for touch-enabled devices such as laptops and tablets, AutoMate offers a user-friendly search experience and access to a wealth of information to help users diagnose, repair, and maintain today's complex vehicles. You can locate topics such as maintenance and repair information, parts and labor information, wiring diagrams, and more.

Looking up vehicles in AutoMate is easy. From the home page, select the year of the vehicle you wish to research. Next, select the vehicle's make, model, and engine type. The Topics Menu displays a list of available Repair Topics relevant to your search including Maintenance Info, Technical Service Bulletins, Specifications, and Diagrams.

You can search within all of the available topics by entering keywords in the search box and clicking the magnifying glass. The results are listed by topic on the right. Or, you can browse for information available within the topics by clicking a heading. Select a sub-heading to keep refining your search or click on a document to view it.

Documents can be printed with or without images.

You can also use AutoMate to look up parts and labor times with associated costs. Very handy!

Small Engine Repair Reference Center

Small Engine Repair Reference Center offers detailed, yet user-friendly repair guides for all types of small engines. Whether you are looking to do routine maintenance, such as tune-ups and brake service, or more extensive repairs to engines and transmissions, Small Engine Repair Reference Center can help. The interface has a user-friendly search box or the ability to browse and dig down by category. Categories include Generators & Other Small Engines, Outdoor Power Equipment, Snowmobiles, and Tractors.

You can sign in and save documents in a private folder for later reading. You can also print, email, save to your computer, and cite documents within the reference center.

Let's say you need to replace the front brake pads on your Harley Davidson motorcycle. Begin by clicking the Motorcycles category.

The database will display a list of related topics. Click a topic (in this case, Harley Davidson) to expand a list of engine sub-topics. Continue to navigate through the Engine Sub-topics until you reach your desired topic. For example, click FXD Evolution, 1991-1998, then Brakes, then Front Brake Pads. Click the link to display the step-by-step instructional document.
