We have had Carol Waarala speak at our library a couple of times now. She
is very knowledgeable and offers many different programs regarding
partnering with those living with dementia. Our patrons have been very
appreciative of the information they have received, and both times have
asked to have her back! I would recommend having her speak at your library.

We have several boxes of Blu-ray cases we don't need. If anyone is interested, I can send them your way. Please reply off list with your RIDES code, and how many you would like; we have hundreds, so if you just want a box or two, I can do that easily.

Hi all,
I'm gathering some info regarding the 1000 books before kindergarten
program. If your library participates, could you please share some
information about your program? We are wondering:
- How you advertise the program to your patrons
- What incentives you use to encourage participation/completion of
the program
- An estimated cost to the library to participate in the program
(incentive purchases, printing, etc.)
- Participation numbers and trends as the program continued
- Any other info I might have missed that would be relevant!
Thank you for your input!

Hello. The Secretary of State's office is once again hoping libraries across Michigan will help us remind the public about the upcoming deadline for voter registration (July 9).
If possible, please post the attached flyer where the public will see it and include it on your website.
In addition, we hope you will consider sharing the following message in any public communication channels your library provides, such as social media and newsletters.
Website, Email or Facebook Message:

I was just playing with the Michigan Department of Treasury's unclaimed property search, and quite a few libraries showed up, including Branch, Canton, Detroit Public and the Flint Public (quite a few more than just those!), so you might want to search for your library and see if there's funds that you can get back.

Greetings!
Are you looking for a way to fund a conference, workshop, online course or other continuing education? The Library of Michigan strives to support libraries' efforts to provide quality service and programming to their communities. A major element of excellent service is empowering library staff to learn and implement new skills and best practices. The Librarian Continuing Education program helps by providing financial support for library staff continuing education. Preference will be given to applicants that meet on or more of the following:
* Staff who work at a library that has not received a stipend previously
* First-time applicants
* Staff who are attending a particular event for the first time
Michigan public, academic and school library staff are eligible to apply for continuing education stipends. The program details and criteria can be found at https://www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan/0,2351,7-160-18668_63014-359559--,00.html. Please note: the deadline to apply for a stipend is June 30. If you have any question not found in the Program Details and Criteria document located at the above URL, please feel free to contact me.
