Job Description
The function and purpose of this job is to administer, maintain, and improve the legally required law library materials and Legal Writers program. This requires a professional knowledge of legal bibliography. Also, required are the reference, cataloging and bibliographic skills necessary to maintain and improve both collections. The Librarian is the supervisor of one of the departments of a prison and is responsible for the behavior, location and security of the convicts.

Required Education and Experience
Education - Possession of a master's degree in library science.
Experience - Librarian 9 - No specific type or amount is required.
Librarian 10 - One year of professional experience providing librarian services equivalent to a Librarian 9.
Librarian P11- Two years of professional experience providing librarian services equivalent to a Librarian, including one year equivalent to a Librarian 10.
Librarian 12- Three years of professional experience providing librarian services equivalent to a Librarian, including one year equivalent to a Librarian P11.

Additional Requirements and Information
The Michigan Department Of Corrections may screen out individuals who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony shall not be eligible for employment until one year after satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation. However, an applicant with a conviction for a violation of the controlled substance act or criminal sexual conduct in any jurisdiction, including the military, will be ineligible for consideration for employment by the Department of Corrections.
