Call for applications for inaugural year of the Lois Ann Gregory-Wood Fellows Program<http://bit.ly/33vxzQv>

The American Library Association reminds members of its call for applications for its inaugural year of the Lois Ann Gregory-Wood Fellows Program.

Lois Ann Gregory-Wood worked at ALA for 50 years, and for 27 of those years, served as the ALA Council Secretariat. For thousands of ALA members, she was the face of ALA Council and governance. The Fellows Program celebrates her leadership and accomplishments, as well as seeking to encourage understanding and participation in the ALA governance processes.

During this first year of the award, one individual will be selected to receive a grant totaling $2,500 to cover costs of attending two conferences: the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia and Annual Conference in Chicago. The Fellow will work with a mentor and attend various governance meetings over the course of the conferences to observe and to learn. Read more<http://bit.ly/33vxzQv>

AASL announces Best Digital Tools recognition<http://bit.ly/33zLZir>

In 2020, the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) will launch a new recognition, the AASL Best Digital Tools for Teaching & Learning. The application for the new recognition will open Sept. 2, 2019, at www.ala.org/aasl/awards/best<http://www.ala.org/aasl/awards/best>.

"Like its predecessors, the inaugural list of Best Digital Tools will be a great resource for educators and school librarians," said AASL President Mary Keeling. "The list will continue to support the 2018 AASL 'National School Library Standards' as each recognized digital tool will be tagged with the Shared Foundations it supports. School librarians can then easily choose apps or websites that facilitate the development of learner competencies." Read more
