Get in the Game and Vote Poster & Bookmark
In collaboration with ALA Graphics, YALSA has released a poster<https://www.alastore.ala.org/content/vote-poster> aimed to encourage teens to become more civically engaged. The poster highlights the who, what, where, when, how, and why of voting and will help youth and new voters navigate their way to the polls. Check out and order the new poster<https://www.alastore.ala.org/content/vote-poster> and digital bookmark<https://www.alastore.ala.org/content/vote-bookmark-file>.
A customizable, digital versions of our Get in the Game and Vote poster<https://www.alastore.ala.org/content/vote-poster> and bookmark<https://www.alastore.ala.org/content/vote-bookmark-file> is also available. Check out the mini-poster<https://www.alastore.ala.org/content/vote-mini-poster-file>, bookmark<https://www.alastore.ala.org/content/vote-blank-bookmark-file>, or the set<https://www.alastore.ala.org/content/vote-digital-set>
YALSA's New Teen Celebration, TeenTober
TeenTober<http://www.ala.org/yalsa/teentober> is a new, nationwide celebration hosted by libraries every October and aims to celebrate teens, promote year-round teen services and the innovative ways teen services helps teens learn new skills, and fuel their passions in and outside the library. TeenTober replaces YALSA's previous Teen Read Week(tm) and Teen Tech Week(tm) celebrations, allowing libraries the flexibility to choose what to celebrate (digital literacy, reading, technology, writing, etc) and the length of time for each celebration. For this inaugural year, the celebration will have a "soft" launch with free, digital marketing tools, which will be available in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more information.
ALSC
ALSC collaborated with Fred Rogers Productions and Grand Communications to develop a suite of materials to support the theme of "Family" for new episodes of the PBS KIDS series Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood that will premiere in September. ALSC encourages children's librarians to incorporate the resources into programming with children and their families. Visit ALSC's Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood page<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fala.informz.net%2Fz%2FcjUucD9taT04NzY0NzU0JnA9MSZ1PTEwMDc0NDk1MzEmbGk9NjkwMTI2Mjg%2Findex.html&data=02%7C01%7Clancasterc5%40michigan.gov%7C4fe8c73a848b4de369fd08d72741aa0a%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C0%7C637021035284058418&sdata=Gb2nBvT7LyhCHt9aKIZr2CLKxtmT04U10dYZ%2F%2Fkf8yc%3D&reserved=0> to download activity pages and a reading list to support your programming.

The 1619 Project<https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/08/14/magazine/1619-america-slavery.html> from The New York Times Magazine is a special issue observing the 400th anniversary of American slavery. It is an interactive project by reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones with contributions by the paper's writers that includes poems, short fiction, and a photo essay. To share with students and all our life-long learners. For more insight, go to PBS Newshour<https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/the-1619-project-details-the-legacy-of-slavery-in-america>. Perhaps build a library program around this project and inspire some teen writers.

Smith, a Michigan librarian and author of "Creating a Tween Collection: A Practical guide for Librarians," as she shares tips on tween literature, carving out a space, budgeting, and more. Webinar attendees will receive a free copy of the book; space is limited! If unable to attend live, the webinar will be recorded for registrants. Feel free to look at the questions<https://gcc01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F179xt_PopaIgGEEbo_ZSI8N3OgS5Vp7_Rjje0xemCjaU%2Fedit%3Fusp%3Dsharing&data=02%7C01%7Clancasterc5%40michigan.gov%7Cb52867ac56be49f18ee408d7224bb851%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C1%7C637015580926285317&sdata=Pkyfxsp1evOO%2BoP5%2Foy1BAqI08Gn%2Fl205xa2yr4ZZ68%3D&reserved=0> before completing the survey.
**Please Note** Libraries are listed by districts so it is ok if you are a branch and we receive multiple entries per system. Just please be sure your district is not already submitting on your behalf - we did not have room on the form to list all 645 locations. Thanks for taking the time to respond! The data and stories are very helpful to CSLP and the Library of Michigan. Deadline has been extended through September 27th - I will do a survey prize drawing for a set of free books relating to summer 2020's "Imagine Your Story" out of the Michigan libraries that respond.
Committees are the lifeblood of CSLP. The hard work and creativity of our volunteers shape both the program and the organization. Strong committee participation leads to a strong CSLP.
While the duties vary, committee obligations generally run for one calendar year, and are renewable up to five times. Sign-ups for 2020 are from Aug 12 - Sept 27. All committee work is done virtually; either through email, or through phone or online meetings. Attending the CSLP Annual Meeting is not required.
