Greetings all,
It's been a while since I sent out a reminder about REMC purchasing for libraries. I was just in touch with Karen Hairston, your contact should you have questions, and she provided the following detailed information about this year's bid. Use it in good health!
Libraries are eligible to purchase off any of the REMC bids. REMC SAVE, the group that manages all of the bids, updated their website to http://remcsave.org<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fremcsave.org&data=02%7C01%7CNorrisS2%40michigan.gov%7C4dc301df32574eadbe3208d691ed0269%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C1%7C636856844467019278&sdata=btFyfj%2BdrEfyac7HNYMAyIT0Dg55fIMsETEk%2FQ9jn40%3D&reserved=0>. If libraries are familiar with going to http://remcbids.org<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fremcbids.org&data=02%7C01%7CNorrisS2%40michigan.gov%7C4dc301df32574eadbe3208d691ed0269%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C1%7C636856844467029280&sdata=BapanEQO%2BBFqCIpbZe70Bxtk%2F2y7KW8r2boovwypt10%3D&reserved=0>, they'll be automatically redirected to the new website.
Most of the REMC bids are ongoing for multiple years, so a library just needs to search the REMC catalog and contact the vendor directly. So depending what they're looking for, the items may be available now.
The Device Purchasing Bid, through which schools, libraries, etc. can usually get even better deals on desktop computers, laptops, and tablets, is in forecasting right now and runs through Friday (2/15), so if there are libraries that think they are going to purchase off of this bid, they should forecast. The higher the forecast volume, the better the prices that we'll get from the vendors.
The purchase window for Device Purchasing will run from April 17 - Sept 30.
Here is a link to the FAQs which include instructions on setting up an account and forecasting. https://help.remcbids.org/device-purchasing<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhelp.remcbids.org%2Fdevice-purchasing&data=02%7C01%7CNorrisS2%40michigan.gov%7C4dc301df32574eadbe3208d691ed0269%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C1%7C636856844467039288&sdata=MIYgy9rAENAFirQl5TdViU%2F93ItvN%2Fj%2FTjRUxSElf3M%3D&reserved=0> The purchasing instructions will be updated before April 17th - this part of the new website is currently being completed.
If anyone has any questions, you can have them email me directly.
