Library Director position-Louisville Public Library (OH)

Are you ready to lead?  The Board of Trustees of the Louisville Public Library<https://www.louisvillelibrary.org/home> seeks a responsive and team-oriented Library Director to provide support and direction to staff and bring experience and vision to the Library.  Located in northeastern Ohio, the Library serves the 18,769 residents of the Louisville City School district.  Governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees, the Library provides excellent and varied services and programs with 17.45FTE staff and a $1.2 million annual operating budget.  Successful passage of a 1 mill operating levy in 2015 provides 33% of the Library's operating expenses, and the Library will have a 1 mill renewal levy on the ballot in November 2019.  The Library recently debuted its ground-breaking Sensory Strategy Program and Space<https://www.louisvillelibrary.org/services/sensory-space>, which provides a unique area offering specialized equipment, programming and environment and is dedicated to the special-needs community.  This program space was funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and is the first of its kind among public libraries in Ohio.

Responsibilities. Responsible for the efficient overall administration and operation of the Library. Develops and implements a strategic vision for the Library in coordination with the Board of Trustees.  Responsible for all functions of the Library, including public and support services, facilities maintenance, purchasing, human resources, information systems, finance, and public relations. Evaluates, develops, recommends and implements Library policies, services and procedures in coordination with the Board of Trustees. Responsible for all budget and financial activities and implementation of such per the Library. Prepares agendas and reports for and attends all Board meetings and subcommittee meetings. Responsible for determining appropriate staffing levels, work performance standards, staff development, quality and quantity of services to be offered to the public, and the means and methods of offering those services. Orients newly appointed Trustees. Insures effective use of facilities according to changing needs of the Library.  Responsible for compliance with all pertinent federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances as well as all library policies and procedures. Responsible for effective professional relationships with local government and legislative bodies, the Library Board of Trustees, library staff and management and the community at large. Qualifications. A Bachelor's degree and progressively responsible professional library experience including a minimum of three years of senior or high-level management and administrative experience is required. A Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library program is preferred. Essential skills include a diverse library background, such as experience in public service, personnel management, and automated/electronic resources.  Experience in successfully engaging with a governing board, leading or supporting a fundraising campaign and/or promoting a local tax levy preferred.

Compensation.  The starting salary range is $65,000-80,000 (with placement dependent upon experience and qualifications) with an attractive benefits package.
