Subject: Braille Enhanced StoryWalk request will open on Wednesday!

The Braille and Talking Book Library and the Michigan Department of Education- Low Incidence Outreach, in collaboration with the Library of Michigan, is offering public libraries in Michigan the opportunity to host Braille Enhanced Storywalk(r) at their libraries in the summer of 2019! On Wednesday, March 6th, we will open requests at 10:00 AM [EST] with a maximum of 35 libraries who will be able to request the Storywalk(r). The link will open on Wednesday at 10am is: https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4876671/Braille-StoryWalk-2019. If you are not at work to request one on Wednesday, please assign that task to a co-worker. This is a first come, first serve basis program with limited quantities.

A Braille Enhanced Storywalk(r) is a great opportunity for any public library this summer. Not only can you provide an exciting new program for your patrons, but by including the braille, your library is helping embrace accessibility and equal access to information. Our straight-forward, easy to use kit will provide step-by-step instructions for setting up your Storywalk(r) and using the braille within the program.
Books available for selection in 2019 are:

  * The Giant Jumperee by Julia Donaldson & Helen Oxenbury
  * The Way Back Home by Oliver Jeffers
  * Anywhere Farm by Phyllis Root

Library of Michigan, Braille & Talking Book Library and the MDE-Low Incidence Outreach departments will provide your library with the following:

  * 1 copy of the selected book to place in circulation to the public
  *   Storywalk(r) Instruction Guide that includes the how's & why's of hosting a Storywalk(r)
  *   Step-by-step instruction sheet
  * Pre-laminated pages of the story
  * Braille overlay stickers will be pre-adhered to pages.
  *   Evaluation Survey

You'll need to provide in-house:

  * Sign paper & Stakes (approx. $2-5 each)
  * Public setting to display Storywalk(r) in the Summer of 2019

The StoryWalk(r) Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk(r) is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson. This resource is supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the Library of Michigan.
