Assistant Director


The Eaton Rapids Area District Library (ERADL) is seeking an energetic and motivated individual to help ensure quality Library service is being provided to the community.

Position: Assistant Director

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Library Director, typical duties may include, but are not limited to:

  *   Substitute for the Director as needed
  *   Attend Library related meetings
  *   Assist in operations of the Library
  *   Supervise and train staff
  *   Create, plan and execute innovative, engaging programs
  *   Represent the Library at community functions and perform outreach
  *   Assist in the administration and supervision of the public services operations
  *   Write and communicate staff schedules
  *   Participate in collection development activities
  *   Other duties as assigned by the Director

Final decision making resides with the Library Director who brings relevant issues to the Library Board for action when necessary.

Qualifications:

  *   High school diploma
  *   A minimum of four-years full time employment or its equivalent (7,280 hours) public library experience
  *   Level 4 Michigan Library Staff Certification, or the ability to obtain such certification within the first year of employment
  *   Demonstrated ability to coordinate a variety of responsibilities
  *   Knowledge of public library trends and service issues
  *   Commitment to quality customer service
  *   Familiarity with Michigan Library Privacy laws and requirements for maintaining confidentiality of patron and library records

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, including regularly scheduled evenings and weekends.

Salary/Benefits: Salary starting at $35,000 per year. Paid time off, paid holidays and the ability to buy into the Library’s health, dental, vision and retirement plans.
