American Library Association President (ALA) Loida Garcia – Febo joined international library leaders for a knowledge-sharing event entitled "Sustainable Development Goals in Libraries Today: the role of libraries in strengthening our communities." The event was hosted by the United Nations Dag Hammarskjöld Library and provided an international platform to discuss how libraries around the world are creating and cultivating new relationships to help communities learn, understand and support sustainable professional development. George Kendall new Booklist editor and publisher<http://bit.ly/30Mao2Y>
Kendall will join Booklist on June 10, 2019 as its new editor and publisher. He has more than 20 years’ experience with a variety of publishers, including an extensive background in content strategy, digital innovation, web development and team leadership. He has most recently been director of publications and digital content with the American Society of Anesthesiologists, where he oversaw improved reader engagement and significantly increased revenue and profit margins through enhancements to multiple print products, new online-only publications and other digital products, collaboration across the association and operational cost control. AASL launches school administrator collaborative
<http://bit.ly/30NgPmq>With support from OverDrive Education, the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is launching a two-year initiative to engage with an audience vital to the success of school librarian advocacy: school administrators. The "AASL School Leader Collaborative: Administrators & School Librarians Transforming Teaching and Learning" aims to strengthen AASL’s collaboration with school administrators. Katelyn Ringrose will serve as ALA’s 2019 Google Policy Fellow. She will spend 10 weeks in Washington, D.C. exploring diverse areas of the information policy field, joining the Washington Office from May 28 through Aug. 10, 2019.
