*Juliane Morian will become the next library director at the Rochester
Hills Public Library*
*(ROCHESTER HILLS- October 15, 2019)* The Rochester Hills Public Library
(RHPL) Board of Trustees today announced that Juliane Morian, Associate
Director/UX at the Clinton-Macomb Public Library (CMPL) since 2008, will
succeed Christine Lind Hage as the library director at one of the counties
busiest public libraries.
Ms. Morian’s eighteen-year career in public libraries began with a focus on
technology at the CMPL. She has strong experience in staff supervision;
budgeting, strategic planning and ensuring a positive customer service
experience to all people using the library.
“Our national search brought us strong candidates that did excellent work
in public libraries. Juliane’s demonstrated a track record of national
leadership, visionary service, and smart use of technology made her a
natural choice for RHPL,” said Board President Robert Bonam.
Ms. Morian has had several leadership roles in the American Library
Association’s Public Library Association and in the Michigan Library
Association. Ms. Morian is a frequent presenter on library and technology
issues at the national level. She received both her undergraduate degree in
history, political science and American culture and her Master of Science
degree in Information with a specialization in human-computer interaction
from the University of Michigan.
She and her family lives in Rochester and she currently serves on the Board
of Directors for the Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve, is a member of the PTA
at University Hills Elementary School and West Middle School and teaches
catechism at St. John Fisher Chapel.
“It has been a privilege to work in public libraries for the past eighteen
years and play a pivotal role in expanding access and introducing new
technology,” said Morian. “I’m honored that the Library Board is giving me
the opportunity to advance the organization's positive momentum as its new
leader. I look forward to working with the board, staff and community
leaders in Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township to continue our
legacy of excellence at the Rochester Hills Public Library.”
Library Director Christine Lind Hage will retire from RHPL effective
December 1, 2019. Hage has had a 48-year career in public libraries with 31
of those years at RHPL. Under her leadership, the current library was built
and expanded and usage has surpassed the 2 million-loan threshold.
