The Neighborhood Library Association (NLA) is pleased to announce the
selection of their 10th annual Community Reads book, *Beautiful Music* by
Michael Zadoorian. Set in the early 1970’s Detroit, a racially divided
city still reeling from its violent riot of 1967, *Beautiful Music* is the
story of one young man’s transformation through music. After tragedy
strikes the family, the young man finds his own reason to carry on: rock
‘n’ roll. In the vein of Nick Hornby and Tobias Wolff, yet with a style
very much Zadoorian’s own, this 2018 Michigan Notable Book is a touching
tale about the power of music and its ability to *save one’s soul*.
Each of the six NLA libraries will host book discussions and book-related
events, culminating in an author visit at 7 PM Wednesday, November 13 at
