Evansville  Vanderburgh Public Library is for Everyone and It May be for You! Become the next CEO - Director to work with the Staff, Community and Library Board to continue and expand the Library's success as a collaborative contributor to the City of Evansville and the County of Vanderburgh. The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library<https://www.evpl.org/> (EVPL) Board of Trustees seeks a vibrant CEO  accomplished in building supportive, thoughtful relationships with staff, the Board, elected officials, and County residents. Working with a seven-member appointed Board of Trustees, a committed staff (146FTE), and a $13+ million annual operating budget, the successful candidate will provide meaningful, quality library services and programs through a Central Library and seven branches. Key opportunities for the new CEO  include fostering a strong culture of committed, excellent customer service; strengthening partnerships and relationships with internal and external stakeholders; updating the strategic initiatives and creating a master facilities plan; developing and implementing a strong staff development program focused on collaboration, trust, integrity and respect; and exploring new services for EVPL. Working with internal and external stakeholders as the Library's new leader is a vital component of the position.

Responsibilities. Under the direction of the governing Board of Trustees, the Library CEO-Director is responsible for the planning, directing, managing and overseeing all activities and operations of the library.  This position reports to the Board of Trustees and works closely with Library staff to ensure that core values of excellent library service are met while achieving the Library's strategic goals. The CEO-Director maintains all compliance with state and federal laws, rules and regulations applicable to Indiana libraries. The CEO-Director is a role model within the organization and must maintain a positive attitude, an innovative mindset and open communication with the staff and community. Qualifications. Minimum qualifications include a Master's in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program; ten years of professional library experience OR six years of professional library experience that includes three years management or supervisory experience allowing for Indiana State Library LC1 certification or the ability to achieve certification within six months. The CEO-Director will have a  proven track record of a collaborative problem solving approach to library and community issues, previous work with security issues ensuring a welcoming and safe place for customers and staff, the ability to work well with partners through strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to hiring, developing and retaining stellar staff. Prior experience as a library administrator in an urban, multibranch library system, reporting to a governing Board, and experience with facilities renovation are preferred.

Compensation: The hiring range is $100,000-$120,000 with an exceptional benefits package.
