Career Preparation<http://widgets.ebscohost.com/prod/customerspecific/mel/auth.php?database=lexcp>
Helping younger patrons explore different careers or connecting seasoned workers to new opportunities is all possible with the Career Preparation center in LearningExpress Library (LEX). Visit the Public Library area and look for Career Preparation to connect. eBooks about different careers are available, ranging from allied health and culinary arts to teaching and career information for veterans. You will also find information about changing careers, effective resume writing, and strong interview skills along with a resource about how to accept a job and negotiate a salary.
If you have patrons who have already decided what path is for them, they may benefit from some test preparation. The Career Preparation center offers all sorts of practice tests from air traffic controller and commercial driver's license tests to cosmetology and real estate tests. Leaners have the choice of 3 different test-taking modes:
1. Learner: View the answers as you go along to help with studying.
2. Practice: See answer explanations after the practice test is complete. If the test if timed, the timer will display but will not be enforced.
3. Simulation: The practice test will stop when the timer is up.
Job & Career<https://widgets.ebscohost.com/prod/customerspecific/mel/auth.php?database=PSjca>
LearningExpress Library's Job & Career Accelerator is a practical and easy-to-use tool. If you have patrons that are exploring new career opportunities, they can use the Skill Matcher or the Interest Matcher to see which occupations might align with their talents. Patrons can also research different careers using the Career Tool. Uncover in-demand occupations, military-to-civilian occupations, and green economy occupations. Career profiles will provide a brief overview, the average salary, projected growth, the types of skills and education required, and the option to search for jobs. For students who are headed to college, or adults who are returning to school, Job & Career Accelerator also offers a School Finder and a Scholarship finder.
Whether you are working with students or adults on their lifelong learning journey, LearningExpress Library offers great resources to help your community achieve their dreams!
