Hi John:

The Public Library Financial Management Guide<https://www.michigan.gov/documents/libraryofmichigan/LM_SLS_2019_Financial_Management_Guide_FINAL_11-6-19_670795_7.pdf>, recently updated by the Library of Michigan with the help of accounting firm Yao & Yao contains some information that may be helpful for both of these questions:

Credit Cards - pp62

Expenditures for Staff events: pp77 ("8. The Library Funds and Assets")

I hope this is helpful- please let me know if I can provide any additional information!

Thanks!
Clare

Subject: [Michlib-l] credit card policies

I wish to pick the collective mind once again.

What is your library's policy on who is authorized to use the library's credit card, are there restrictions i.e. amounts or other restrictions.

Second, what is your board policy regarding recognizing incidences to recognize staff or board events. In the last couple of year we have had two former board members die and a couple retire. We have had some long time staff retire also. What do you do for a staff member who suffers the loss of a close relative or a loved one? How far does that extend? To immediate family, cousins, aunts or uncles?

Any information would be most helpful.

West Branch District Library
