Instruction & Outreach Librarian, Assistant/Associate Professor

The University Libraries at Western Michigan University seeks candidates for the position of Instruction & Outreach Librarian. This entry-level liaison librarian position will build collaborative partnerships between the libraries and social science departments in the College of Arts and Sciences, primarily history, gender and women's studies, and political science, plus other social sciences disciplines as assigned. Liaison librarians support Western Michigan University's commitment to being a learner centered, discovery driven, and globally engaged institution by providing high quality library instruction and research support to our diverse campus community.



This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position in the Instruction & Outreach Department of the University Libraries and will report to the Associate Dean for Education and User Services. Primary areas of responsibility include teaching library skills and concepts to undergraduate and graduate students, developing in-person and online learning activities, developing library programs to support student and faculty research, providing in-person and online research consultations, and monitoring the collections for relevance to the assigned curricular areas. A master's degree from a graduate program accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) or an international equivalent as identified by ALA is required. Applicants currently completing a master's degree may be considered with proof that the degree has been received by the anticipated start date.
