Only a few libraries responded that they have tried this. Those that did
have not had any major issues. The libraries that have been doing this
usually kept an ID to ensure the computer’s return. Several libraries are
interested in the idea and these responses. It was pointed out that
computer screens are hard to read in the sunlight and that it is a good
idea to have a plan for rain.

*Bellaire Public Library* has been doing this since they reopened for
curbside pickup. They have a station in their outside entry with a plugged
in laptop, and 2 chromebooks which patrons trade their driver's license
for. They also offer them for checkout. They have not had a single issue.

*Salem-South Lyon District Library * was loaning a laptop for parking lot
use for 30 minute increments. They would take a photo ID as collateral and
also did not give the patron a power adapter or a mouse. Now, the building
is open so there is no longer a need.

*Peter White Public Library*: considered the idea, but couldn’t come up
with a suitable rain contingency. They will begin allowing appointments for
in-building computer use beginning next week.

*T.A Cutler Memorial Library*: wrote a grant for laptops for curbside usage.

*Benton Harbor Public Library* has been taking chromebooks to the Farmer’s
Market to allow people to do the Census. It worked okay except for people
who don’t know how to use a computer.
