Registration is now open<https://store.mcls.org/index.php/special-programs.html> for upcoming trainings for Michigan library staff on leading effective meetings and conversations! These trainings are purposely small (only 16 spots per session) in order to include a lot of personal attention and hands-on practice, so we encourage you to grab your spot fast.
Offered again this year by MCLS in partnership with the Library of Michigan, the trainings will be taught by Mary and Sarah of We Can Work It Out, LLC<http://www.wecanworkitoutllc.com/index.html>. Skills taught and practiced can be used in a variety of settings including staff and work meetings, strategic planning sessions, one-on-one interactions with library patrons, library sponsored community conversations, and focus groups. They will include learning theory, as well as practice of skills and peer feedback. Because they are funded by the Library of Michigan, these trainings are only open to staff of Michigan libraries, but are open to and encouraged for all levels and roles of staff.
The first two sessions (The Facilitator's Toolbox Part 1: Make your meetings effective, efficient, and fun! and Part 2: Practical skills for responding to conflict and coming to agreement) will be held May 4 and 5 in Lansing. Two more sessions of each training to be held in other locations (TBA) in September will be open for registration soon.
All sessions will be 9:30am - 4pm. Registration is just $40 and includes all materials and lunch! We hope you can join us!
Read more here<https://www.mcls.org/news/?p=7684> or register<https://store.mcls.org/index.php/special-programs.html> today!
NOTE: These workshops are an update of the "Facilitation Training: Basic" and "Facilitation Trainings: Advanced (Coming to Agreement and Handling Conflict)" that were offered the past two years around the state. Those who have already attended those trainings would find this to be a repeat of similar information and will not want to register again.
