Kalamazoo Public Library is Collecting COVID-19 Pandemic Photos and Stories
for Local History Archiving Purposes

2020 Pandemic: Share Your Story
The COVID-19 Pandemic has affected all of us in many different ways and we are all eyewitnesses to this important time in our history. To preserve this snapshot in time, Kalamazoo Public Library is collecting materials<https://www.kpl.gov/local-history/covid-19-stories/> that demonstrate the impact of coronavirus and COVID-19 on our community. The goal is to preserve the stories and images of our daily lives during the crisis and to provide future historians, researchers, and students with information and data on life in our community during the pandemic.

Contribution Guidelines and Terms
Please read the following guidelines before submitting your content:

  *   All accepted items will be made available for public research by the Kalamazoo Public Library.
  *   By submitting content through this form, you are granting the library non-exclusive (shared), royalty-free license to preserve, modify, and share your content for public research, educational use, exhibits, or publication, including in print or online.
  *   Kalamazoo Public Library reserves the right to remove content that it considers duplicative, inappropriate, or outside the scope of this project. The library is not obligated to include your content in this project or preserve it in perpetuity.
  *   Please only submit written, photographic, audio, or video material that you own or have created. If you would like to refer or nominate material which you do not own, please contact us at localhistory at kpl.gov.
  *   You must be 18 years of age or older to submit content.  If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to submit content on your behalf.

By submitting materials to Kalamazoo Public Library,

  *   I represent that I am the sole owner of the uploaded materials and that I have the full right and authority to donate these materials to the Kalamazoo Public Library (KPL). I understand that the location, retention, and preservation of the materials, and other considerations relating to their use or disposition, will be made in accordance with KPL policies that the material may be made available for research on an unrestricted basis. I understand that the donations I am making are permanent donations. Kalamazoo Public Library does not advise donors on tax matters and suggests that donors direct any questions regarding donations as charitable contributions to the donor’s tax advisor or an office of the Internal Revenue Service.
  *   I grant KPL a non-exclusive right to authorize all uses of these materials for research, scholarly, or other educational purposes and to display the materials in KPL-sponsored exhibitions, displays, catalogs, and publications. Some of the discretionary uses incidental to the donated materials’ inclusion in the collections of the KPL may implicate copyrights. To the extent that such activities are not already permitted under statutory copyright exceptions such as the Fair Use Doctrine, I grant the KPL an irrevocable non-exclusive royalty-free worldwide perpetual license for all reasonable discretionary uses.
  *   I understand that my submission will be moderated before being made available publicly. Kalamazoo Public Library reserves the right to not accept a submission should it not fit the theme and intent of the library’s Share Your Story initiative, per the discretion of KPL staff.
