ALSC - Competencies in Action<http://www.ala.org/alsc/alscconnectonline/competencies-action-november-2020>
The work of cultural competency is unending as we continually learn new and better ways to understand, communicate with, and interact with our library colleagues and with library users. To support librarians in their work with children and their caregivers, ALSC created the Competencies for Librarians Serving Children in Libraries<http://www.ala.org/alsc/edcareeers/alsccorecomps> to guide them in areas of access, advocacy, and outreach in ways that encompass and reflect positive world views. Practicing librarians find that the guidelines set forth through competencies inform their librarianship by extending their professionalism in ways that allow them to function effectively in the communities that they serve.
Continuing Ed Resource
Don't forget you can apply for an LM CE Stipend<https://www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan/0,9327,7-381-88855_89737-359559--,00.html> and if approved would reimburse you up to $500.

LSSC Elective Competencies: Youth Services<https://libraryjuiceacademy.com/shop/course/250-lssc-youth-services/>
A six week online course on youth services, designed to meet the elective requirement for the Library Support Staff Certification program. This course is designed to give students a broad overview of library services to youth and their caregivers in the library environment. Students will learn about the developmental stages of youth, matching youth and their caregivers to information sources, designing developmentally appropriate library programming and outreach initiatives to address specific community needs, and how to model information-seeking behaviors to youth. This course will get you started in all of these areas, as well as give the specific competencies laid out by the LSSC program.
The ALA-APA approval for the LSSC program is pending for this course.

Stories Songs & Stretches!<https://libraryjuiceacademy.com/certificate/stories-songs-and-stretches/>
Stories, Songs, and Stretches! provides adults with the skills and resources they need to understand and enhance early learning through embodied play. The online training version is made up of three 4-week modules. These modules are for anyone who works with preschool and/or early elementary age kids on a regular basis, or who wants to learn how to use the program with kids and families. This includes teachers, librarians, early childhood educators, social workers, and yoga teachers, among others. Nearly everyone who works with young children can earn continuing education credits when they attend our workshops. All modules must be completed before one can become certified. A break period of two weeks is offered between modules in the series.

Bilingual Storytime at Your Biblioteca<https://libraryjuiceacademy.com/shop/course/033-bilingual-storytime-at-your-biblioteca/>
Dates: December 7th through January 3rd, 2020-21
This 4-week, online course teaches participants how to present bilingual storytimes (English/Spanish) for various ages, regardless of their own language skills. Video demonstrations, articles, online resources and course discussions direct students as they learn how to successfully deliver the various elements of bilingual storytimes, either on their own or with a bilingual community partner. Participants will discover new books, rhymes, songs, plans and resources that they can immediately put to use in their bilingual storytime programs.
