Hello Michlib-L,
We have some wonderful virtual events coming up next week and we'd like to invite you to join and/or share!
Monday, October 5 at 7pm. What you need to know about Journalism.
Please join LTPL as we host Mr. Peter Bhatia, Editor & Vice President of the Detroit Free Press and Michigan Regional Editor for the USA Today Network, online through Zoom. He will discuss the important topic of journalism, the evolution of the reporter, sensationalism, and what most people reading or watching the news may not know. This is a Neighborhood Library Association event, leading up to our Annual Community Reads' Virtual Author Visit with Derf Backderf on November 12!
Tuesday, October 6 at 6:30pm. Living an Herbal Life: Crafting Teas, Tinctures & Oils
Join herbalist and author Bevin Cohen for an evening of herbal exploration. Learn the benefits of various cultivated and foraged herbs and explore why developing a relationship with our herbal allies is more important now than ever before! Bevin will process herbs, brew teas and craft salves & tinctures while walking you through the process. Participants will all receive an exclusive discount code for use on herbal wellness products and books through Bevin's website!
Bevin Cohen is an author, herbalist, educator, and owner of Small House Farm in Michigan. Cohen offers workshops and lectures across the country on the benefits of living closer to the land through seeds, herbs, and locally grown food, and he has published numerous works on these topics, including the bestselling "Saving Our Seeds" and his highly anticipated new book, "The Artisan Herbalist" (New Society ’21). He serves on the board of the International Herb Association and the advisory council for the Community Seed Network. Learn more about Cohen’s work on his website [ http://www.smallhousefarm.com/ | www.smallhousefarm.com ] . C o-hosted by LTPL Grows and the Four Seasons Garden Club of South Lyon.

Saturday, October 10 at 3pm. Author Visit with Marney Rich Keenan
Join us to hear Marney Rich Keenan share her research and the process of writing her recently published nonfiction book, "The Snow Killings: inside the Oakland County child killer investigation." There will be time for Q & A, and to share your recollection or experience of this terrible tragedy that took place 4 decades ago, over a period of 13 months. Marney Rich Keenan has over 26 years of investigative journalism experience and is now retired from the Detroit News. "The Snow Killings" is her first book.
