Greetings!
MiOSHA announced this afternoon (JIC News Release 456 - MIOSHA Emergency Rules Extension.pdf<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flnks.gd%2Fl%2FeyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMDQsInVyaSI6ImJwMjpjbGljayIsImJ1bGxldGluX2lkIjoiMjAyMTA0MTMuMzg3MDQ5MjEiLCJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL2NvbnRlbnQuZ292ZGVsaXZlcnkuY29tL2F0dGFjaG1lbnRzL01JTVNQLzIwMjEvMDQvMTMvZmlsZV9hdHRhY2htZW50cy8xNzUzMjIxL0pJQyUyME5ld3MlMjBSZWxlYXNlJTIwNDU2JTIwLSUyME1JT1NIQSUyMEVtZXJnZW5jeSUyMFJ1bGVzJTIwRXh0ZW5zaW9uLnBkZiJ9.CgiM4IJFauYgin-b4cFyHm-EMcUmMXKx2cOTGTUHvJw%2Fs%2F1148882654%2Fbr%2F101957478088-l&data=04%7C01%7Cmembielac%40michigan.gov%7C0ccb475c7d5b45f9ea0208d8feaaf484%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C1%7C637539357493716875%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=3Qxaosj8e1zfQEpY%2BAzonEWX8YItpdo25rWpmOy410k%3D&reserved=0>) that the emergency rules issued October 2020 and set to expire tomorrow, will be extended until October 14, 2021.
Emergency rules may be extended for a single 6- month period.
MiOSHA has also begun a formal rulemaking process that will eventually result in some permanent COVID-19 related rules, but we do not yet know how many or what those will be.
FOR NOW:
The emergency rules extended today are the same rules we have been following since last October.
Therefore, all this extension means is that we have to continue to operate as we have, following restrictions such as:
Employee health checks
Masks required in workplace
Social Distancing
Requirements for quarantine and isolation if exposed or diagnosed with COVID-19
Presence of COVID-19 coordinator
Maintenance of a Pandemic Response Plan
Remote work if feasible
NOTE - This is NOT a complete list of restrictions!
Libraries should review the emergency rules located at
https://www.michigan.gov/documents/leo/Final_MIOSHA_Rules_705164_7.pdf
Libraries should consult their attorneys if they have questions regarding these restrictions.
Thanks!
