Join NNLM for a conversation with the authors of On the Job

The pandemic triggered the term "essential workers" and brought attention to the nexus of unsafe jobs and public health.

Authors Celeste Monforton and Jane Von Bergen crisscrossed the country, speaking with dairy hands, poultry processing, domestics workers, and others to learn how essential workers are advocating for safety in the workplace. Their book is On the Job: The Untold Story of Worker Centers and the New Fight for Wages, Dignity, and Health.

Reporter Maryam Jameel will moderate a conversation about "worker centers" and the connection between these community organizations and social determinants of health.
